A living archive of America’s first people.
Native to This Land is an intimate and powerful portrait series that honors Native culture, its people, and the regalia they wear.. Photographed in site-specific studios set up at Pow Wows across the United States, this ongoing body of work captures the rich traditions and individuality of Indigenous communities.
The most recent addition to the series documents a historic moment—the first Lenape Pow Wow on Manhattan Island in over 300 years. Granted exclusive access, Lynch set up a private studio at the Park Avenue Armory, creating a visual record of the original stewards of the land returning to their ancestral home.
Through striking, dignified portraits, Native to This Land is not only an artistic endeavor but also a historical documentation—preserving a legacy of resilience, identity, and cultural pride for future generations.
